IGNITE Hidalgo County

03.06.2010

Steve Taylor at the Rio Grande Guardian picks up on a key issue we’re facing in the asset map for IGNITE Hidalgo County: Access to Capital an Issue in Hidalgo County, Say Researchers.

I’ve been really impressed with Hidalgo County Judge Rene Ramirez. He understands why we’re spending so much time tying together economic development, education, and workforce. Many of these projects start and end with laser-like focus on business parks, utilities, and transportation. Hidalgo County certainly has to pay attention to those areas in their plan–especially water and transportation–but not at the expense of things like education and workforce competitiveness. Judge Ramirez sees the connections and the plan will be better for it.
